Lateral thinking puzzle #4

Some of the puzzles you’ll find here require only a small leap of perception. Others need deep and detailed thought. We’ll give you the answers once you’ve had time to furrow your brow and annoy your family! 

Here’s number four, followed by the answer to the last one:

My friend Sally told me that her grandmother was younger than her mother.

Could this be true?

PUZZLE #3: 

A carrot, a football scarf and five buttons were found in a field. Nobody placed them there. So how did they get there?

They are the remains of a snowman after the thaw.
